Review: Secrets on Lake Drive by Tina Martin

Monica and Sean clash at a parent-teacher conference when Monica accuses Sean of being too occupied with making money and chasing women to take a real interest in his son's life. But Sean is no pushover. He knows how to hold his own and deal with Monica, but after the incident at school, he's also come to realize that he can use Monica's devotion to his advantage. He propositions her to move into his home to babysit five-year old Roman for the three months of summer break, offering her a substantial amount of money, hoping that she'll accept. But is babysitting the only reason he's so anxious to get her into his mansion? Monica accepts his offer against her better judgment, knowing the rumors of Sean and his womanizing ways. She tells herself that she's doing this for Roman - that she can avoid her new, sexy, summer boss - his chiseled chest, pretty green eyes and charm that just won't quit. But after only a few weeks, Monica finds it a struggle to keep her eyes off of Sean. Can she handle staying focused on her babysitting gig for three months without being swept off of her feet by Milwaukee's finest? Or is Sean's game too much for the young, conservative teacher to handle? Having been heartbroken in the past, Monica is reluctant to play this dangerous game with a confirmed heartbreaker. But it's what she doesn't know about Sean that she should be concerned about. Sean knows her well - too well, and it's those secrets that have the potential to make her love him or hate him. Secrets On Lake Drive is an emotional story about a woman looking to correct wrongs in her life that could easily be solved by the secrets Sean quietly carries with him. The question is, will he ever care enough to tell her?

Tina paints an intriguing picture with her style of words.  The characters come to life and the plot is intoxicating.  I'm adding Tina to my list of favorite authors.  I know what I'll be getting some of my friends for Christmas!

Review: Aching for Always by Gwyn Cready

RITA Award–winning author Gwyn Cready continues the “sexy fun” (BookPage) of her charming time-travel adventures with a high-spirited tale of a modern-day mapmaker and the eighteenth-century English navy captain she can’t resist.

Ambitious and feisty Josephine “Joss” O’Malley has spent years fighting to keep her mother’s map-making company alive. Just when she finds herself considering taking a risky next step with bad-boy entrepreneur Rogan Reynolds— whose generosity has helped keep the business afloat—Joss meets dark and mysterious Hugh Hawksmoor. Hugh’s deft touch and old-world seduction stir Joss’s desires like a storm at sea, and she has no clue that he has sailed three hundred years into the future to avenge the death of his brother at the hands of her father. Or that she holds the key to a map that will help him undo the destructive changes her father wrought in the past. When Hugh lures Joss into a treacherous journey through time, there’s not a twenty-first-century trick that can save her. But when she applies her own instincts to a course she thought was set, she discovers that the high seas hold some scandalous surprises.

I fell head-over-heels for Hugh in this completely seductive story.  It's imaginative, smart, sexy and a whole lot of fun.  Romance lovers everywhere will rejoice!  Gwyn has done it once again!

Review: Venom (Elemental Assassin, Book 3) by Jennifer Estep

It’s hard to be a badass assassin when a giant is beating the crap out of you. Luckily, I never let pride get in the way of my work. My current mission is personal: annihilate Mab Monroe, the Fire elemental who murdered my family. Which means protecting my identity, even if I have to conceal my powerful Stone and Ice magic when I need it most. To the public, I’m Gin Blanco, owner of Ashland’s best barbecue joint. To my friends, I’m the Spider, retired assassin. I still do favors on the side. Like ridding a vampire friend of her oversized stalker—Mab’s right-hand goon who almost got me dead with his massive fists. At least irresistible Owen Grayson is on my side. The man knows too much about me, but I’ll take my chances. Then there’s Detective Bria Coolidge, one of Ashland’s finest. Until recently, I thought my baby sister was dead. She probably thinks the same about me. Little does she know, I’m a cold-blooded killer . . . who is about to save her life.

It's amazing how a book can give you an adrenaline rush and sweep you off your feet all at the same time.  Venom takes you on an unbelievable ride, filled with suspense, romance, thrills and more.

Giveaway: CyberSynch Application

App Sends Auto Reply from Mobile Device: "I'm Driving, I'll call or text you back as soon as I arrive at my destination."

Joining thirty other states, Georgia recently banned the dangerous and often deadly, growing social epidemic of phoning and texting while driving, a particularly troubling problem among younger drivers. In that regard, I would like to suggest an interview with the developer of a totally-unique Smartphone app that helps curb this compulsive behavior.

He’s Internet pioneer and Iconosys Inc. CEO & founder Wayne Irving II, who can discuss his incredible SMS Replier™ app that helps stop texting while driving plus other disturbing trends in today’s modern technology world such as “Cyber-bullying.”

With the summer travel season at its peak and back-to-school/back-to-college season here as well, the time could not be more appropriate for the introduction of Iconosys’ revolutionary SMS Replier™ which is adaptable for the Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile platforms. While everyone’s safety is important while driving, many families and students take to the nation’s roadways during this time of year and with the economy still not corrected, more are opting to drive to their destination rather than fly out of the nearest airport.

SMS Replier™ works by enhancing the existing and exponentially growing global SMS network, by joining it with new services that are now available on the most popular Smartphone platforms; including real time traffic, mapping and GPS. Users can download SMS Replier™ to their Smartphone via the company's website at www.smsreplier.com or by visiting the Android marketplace or the marketplace for their Smartphone platform. When enabled, the SMS Replier™ will automatically send a response to inbound calls and text messages independently, letting the driver concentrate on the driving and not the phone. SMS Replier™ contains numerous value-added and rich features, such as unlimited custom messages, editable pre-loaded default messages, noreply/blocklist, white list enhancements, spam and shortcode filtering, and even allows for unique differentiation between callers and texters.

Texting while driving (TWD) continues to be one of the most dangerous threats on our nation's roadways, yet at any given time, over 800,000 people are engaged in this practice. When on the road, the smart technology in SMS Replier™ triggers the automatic text message response whenever a call or text arrives; the default reply similar to "I'm Driving, I'll call or text you back as soon as I arrive at my destination."

SMS Replier™ comes with up to 26 pre-set convenience messages with timers that are useful in a variety of situations, allowing users to choose between automatically select easy pre-loaded text message responses for calls and texts, or creating a virtually unlimited amount of totally customizable responses as well.

SMS Replier ™ is available for download for $19.95 and comes with free upgrades for 1 full year from the date of purchase.

Bathroom storage

Guest post written by Lauren Rockwell

I learned pretty early when I started looking at apartments in New York that bathrooms are weird there.

The apartment that I ended up signing the lease for has a stand alone bath tub with a shower faucet that comes out of the wall. I'm used to shower doors and have almost had a few close calls slipping in the tub and almost falling through the shower curtains that go around the tub. That was just in the first week.

So I after I finally decided to get more info on my Internet service and set it up, I looked up some stuff to get some ideas for decorating my bathroom.

I found a good bath mat and some sturdier shower curtains. I also was using a coat rack as a towel rack. So I found one that stuck on the wall and matched the decor. I also bought some matching bath mats and a cabinet that fits on top of the toilet so I can put all of my toiletries there.

It's small, but it's going to have to work.

Review: Marilyn Go2 Bra by Lipo In a Box

"Marilyn" will make any curvaceous women feel confident, secure and beautiful in fashions that show a little or a lot of your shoulders.

This is the ULTIMATE in strapless bras. Special occasion wear has always been a bit of a challenge for larger busted women. Never again! The "MARILYN" style strapless shapes and supports securely by using a double criss-cross elastic backwing. This offers lift and support for bust size up to DDD.

Comes in Nude or Black, sizes 32-42, C-DDD.

I prefer strapless bras, hands down. No matter how I tighten the straps, they always fall down and that annoys me so bad. The problem I have with most strapless bras is that they don't give my breasts enough support.  When I tried on the Marilyn Go2 Bra by Lipo In a Box, I was surprised at how perky they looked. I love it! I'm more comfortable and I have more confidence because my boobs aren't rubbing the ground. Plus, it's only $39!

Vampire Diaries Board Gam

Vampire Diaries fans can keep the drama going with this board game based on the hit television show. Move your piece around the game board and try to be the last player left who hasn't been turned into a vampire. Features 4 human-to-vampire transformation photo-frames, a replica of Katherine's ring, and a vampire fangs rubber stamper. For 3-4 players. Ages teen to adult. Includes game board, dry erase pad, and 3 dice.

I am going to have to get this for me and Krista to play!  We are both addicted to this show, so we would both probably be pretty good at it.  I like to win though, so hopefully I'll have the upper hand since I was able to watch the last episode and she wasn't.

You Are Beautiful

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Bottega Verde. All opinions are 100% mine.

I am on an all natural kick. I don't want any products that have chemicals in them for many reasons. The first reason is because I have sensitive skin and a lot of products make me break out into little, red itchy bumps. Plus, I don't see how putting unnatural ingredients can be good. Your skin absorbs the products you use and I don't want nasty stuff seeping in my pores.  Why use unnatural products if you don't have to?  It just doesn't make sense to me.

Bottega Verde has all natural beauty products. I would absolutely love to try the Almonds line because I love soft skin and I really like that it will work for people with very dry and dehydrated skin.  It would be nice to use the Olive Oil products too because it provides long-lasting moisture.  I'm no diva, but I do try to take good care of myself and my skin.  I want to use the best products because by doing that, I am saving my skin from unwanted irritants.  Have you tried Bottega Verde?  Make sure you check out their amazing line of products.

Review: True Blood: The Complete Second Season (HBO Series)

When we last checked in with Sookie Stackhouse, the mystery surrounding a Bon Temps serial killer had finally been solved, to the town’sinfinite relief. Sookie is thrilled that her vampire soulmate, Bill Compton, has escaped with his life (or is it death?) after coming to her daylight defense. On other fronts, Sookie’s pal Tara Thornton sets downnew roots with an affluent benefactor, Maryann Forrester; Sam Merlotte resolves to get in shape-shift shape after a forest foray; roguish brother Jason finds new purpose with an anti-vampire sect; and detectiveAndy Bellefleur licks his wounds after being proven wrong about Jason’s guilt. But just as things are settling down, some deadly new twists threaten to ratchet up the saga of Sookie Stackhouse to bloody new heights!

Special Features:

* The Vampire Report (Special Edition): Check out the past year's biggest stories in vampire news, politics, and popular culture in the special edition of The Perspective with Victoria Davis

* Fellowship of the Sun: Reflections of Light: Rules to live by with Fellowship of the Sun leaders Steve and Sarah Newlin

* Seven audio commentaries with the cast and crew, including Alan Ball, Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Michelle Forbes, Alexander Skarsgard, Rutina Wesley, Ryan Kwanten, Sam Trammell, and many more

I liked True Blood: The Complete Second Season (HBO Series)
a lot more than the first season.  There was more action and the plot was intense.  I'm ready for season 3 now:)

Wardrobe Changes

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Liz Claiborne New York Outlets. All opinions are 100% mine.

My favorite thing about this time of year is the clothes I get to wear. I am a huge fan of sweaters and jackets. I like to bundle up in layers because it gives you a chance to change it up a little. Adding a jacket can make an outfit look completely different. It's great because I don't have a ton of clothes and I like being able to mix and match. I don't have a lot of money to spend on a new wardrobe, so when I shop, I look for really good bargains. Did you know that you can get up to 40% off at Liz Claiborne New York Outlets? They are selling their entire inventory, so you would be sure to find something you like in your price range.

I would love to go and pick out some new jeans, sweaters and turtlenecks.  I could really use a new pair of boots too.  Saving 40% would give me the opportunity to expand the amount of clothes I own drastically.  What about you, do you need some new fall clothes?  Make sure you visit the nearest Liz Claiborne New York Outlet store near you while this sale is going on.  You could walk out looking like a whole new you without having to spend a ton of money.

Review: True Blood: The Complete First Season (HBO Series)

TRUE BLOOD chronicles the backwoods Louisiana town of Bon Temps... where vampires have emerged from the coffin, and no longer need humans for their fix. Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin, Golden Globe(R)-winner for "True Blood", Academy Award®-winner for “The Piano”) works as a waitress at the rural bar Merlotte's. Though outwardly a typical young woman, she keeps a dangerous secret: she has the ability to hear the thoughts of others. Her situation is further complicated when the bar gets its first vampire patron - 173-year old Bill Compton (Steven Moyer, "Quills") - and the two outsiders are immediately drawn to each other. Delivering the best of what audiences have come to expect from Creator and Executive Producer Alan Ball (writer of Oscar®-winning Best Picture “American Beauty”, creator of the Emmy® Award-winning HBO® series “Six Feet Under”), TRUE BLOOD is a dark and sexy tale that boldly delves into the heart - and the neck - of the Deep South.

Special Features:

  • In Focus: Vampires in America: A mockumentary about vampires in America
  • True Blood Beverage Ads: French and American "Tru Blood" beverage ads
  • Vampire Service Ads: Ads for vampire dating, vampire hotels, and lawyers that service vampires
  • Public Service Announcements: Both pro- and anti-vampire rights
  • Six audio commentaries with the cast and crew, including executive producer and creator Alan Ball, Anna Paquin (Sookie), and Stephen Moyer (Bill)

I know I'm behind the times.  I just finished watching True Blood: The Complete First Season (HBO Series) on Saturday and it's a good show.  Personally, I like Twilight and The Vampire Diaries better, but True Blood is fun way to spend a weekend.
